Interior Design tricks of the week

You may not be able to increase the size of a room , but you can easily fool the eye with a few clever interior design tricks, to make it look more spacious!

Our Interior Designer Irina Melnikoff shares her tricks to transform smaller spaces:

Add a full body mirror to your room to add extra dimension.

For rooms, large or small that have limited amount of natural light, place a large mirror directly across a window, which will add instant light.

Paint smaller rooms in softer, lighter colours to make it appear larger. Darker colours absorb the light instead of reflecting it , making the room feel smaller than  it is.

Make your ceilings appear higher by paining walls and trims the same colour.

Increase the appearance of more floor space by choosing larger than standard floor tiles. Install with minimum grout to enhance visual space.

Whenever you can, leave your windows uncovered to give the room more depth. Placing furniture with exposed legs will make your home feel more open and airy.

Pull furniture away from the wall, to create the illusion of spaciousness.
